Kay Davidson graduated from Hemet High School in 1939, and enjoyed more than annual “reunions” with classmates and friends until very recently. She was featured as a Spanish dancer in the 1938 and 1939 Ramona Pageants, worked in the early years at Harry Hoffman’s family theatre on Main Street in San Jacinto, and later became a flight dispatcher at Ryan Airfield during World War II.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Frank (Jim) Davidson, and is survived by their son Randy Davidson and daughter Judith McPherson, as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Kay was a skilled seamstress, spending many pleasant hours sewing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and beautifully handcrafted aprons for friends and family. After Kay and Jim Davidson retired from operating the Valle Vista Store in 1977, they travelled the United States from coast to coast and north to Alaska in their motorhomes. Fishing was one of Kay’s favorite past times during these trips with her beloved Jim. Kay maintained a wonderful garden with her talented green thumb, always with fresh flowers around her home.
Kay’s attachment and appreciation for local history never wavered, which means attending every “pioneer” picnic on Memorial Day. She has been a guest speaker at Valle Vista Elementary on their 30 year celebration, and both 75-year and 80-year celebrations of the Russian plane landing in San Jacinto. She was a member of the Hemet Area Museum Association (Heritage Foundation) and Hemet High Alumni Association.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 West Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA. A celebration of life gathering will take place at the Davidson homestead at noon on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
