Virginia was born in Alleghany County, Virginia to Norman and Molly Bradshaw on February 22, 1924. She grew up during the depression era and learned to make much out of little. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Clarence Lee Ray (Lee) and devoted mother to her three children and grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved all her nieces and nephews and was like a second mother to many of them. She grew up going to church and most recently was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by her sons, Clarence Lee Ray, Jr. and Stephen William Ray; her grandchildren, Michael Lee Ray, Vicky Ray Pace, Diana Ray, and Gini Carlton; and her six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ray; her daughter, Betty Jo Ray, her parents, Norman and Molly Bradshaw; her sister, Lucille Persinger; and her brother, Bill Bradshaw.
Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 4855 Albemarle Rd. Charlotte NC. Visitation will start at 3:30PM on Saturday, November 4 and the Funeral Service will begin at 4:30PM with Reverend Albert Leath officiating. Graveside Service will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA at 3:00PM on Monday, November 6.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
