California Registered Historical Landmark No. 804 commemorates horticulturist John Reid Wolfskill known as the father of the fruit industry in Solano County near Winters, Caliornia. When in 1842 he arrived at Rancho Rio de los Putos with an abundant supply of fruit seeds and cuttings. The University of California, Davis was gifted more than 107 acres for an experimental farm in 1937 bequeathed by the early pioneer's daughter Frances.

In the history books he is also mentioned (and later documented) as the first recorded American to settle and reside in Solano County, California.
