Olive Lee Stephens left this world just in time to bang the gavel and call to order all of her constituents from Shady Shores who have gone on to Heaven before her.

In 1963, she was elected to the Shady Shores City Council and serve in that capacity until 1973 when she was successfully elected Mayor. She was undefeated as Mayor until 2011 when she announced that she would not seek another term of office. She served on the Denton County American Cancer Society Board for 25 years and was a member of the Denton County Historical Society for a number of years. Her favorite accomplishment was serving on Denco 9-1-1. She was appointed to serve on the steering committee to organize a campaign to establish 9-1-1 in Denton County in 1989.
