The church and youth were always important to Darlene, and she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and confirmation classes at St. James Lutheran Church in Edgar during her 41 years as a member.  In addition, she was active in the church women’s group, served several years as Sunday school superintendent, and was elected to the church council.  Darlene also volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H, Teammates, and the CCC scholarship committee for several years.
