Jean Penick Buras passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, October 30, 2017.

She was 90, a native of Sand Springs, OK and a resident of LaPlace, LA.

Beloved wife of the late George “Carl” Buras.

Mother of Deborah Exley (Butch) and Tina Gassen (Jeffery).

Grandmother of Sarah Exley Goetz, Jesse Exley and Luke Gassen.

Great-grandmother of Rheya Exley.

Daughter of the late Velda Hutchinson Penick and James Andrew Penick.

Sister of James R. Penick and the late Joan Penick Cecil.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Jean was the co-founder of LaPlace Laundry and Dry Cleaning, enjoyed the game of golf, playing card games and was an avid reader.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W.
