Bill was born on May 20, 1925, in Waverly, to Albert E. and Mary (Morris) Sevier. He married Joyce Holmes on Nov. 24, 1945, in South Pekin. She passed away on Sept. 24, 2011.
Also preceding in death are his parents; one sister, June Carrick; and three brothers, Albert, Donald and Robert Sevier.
Bill was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was carrier for the United States Post Office in Pekin, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for 70 years, serving as President of the Illinois State Letter Carriers Association. He was a charter member of Pekin Marine Corps League. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a member of the Congregation United Church of Christ in Pekin.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, with Rev. Judy Steger-Kennedy officiating. Private inurnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
