Rev. Lester Arley McDonald, 89, of Clovis NM, went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2017, at St. Anthony Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clovis, NM.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery.
Lester was born in Haskell, Oklahoma to George Allen McDonald and Lydia Jane Haddock McDonald on March 7, 1928. He attended school in Haskell and obtained his equivalency diploma in the U.S. Navy. He later attended Bible College. In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in WWII, and was recalled in 1950, to serve in the Korean War. On December 31, 1946, he married Helen Irene Amlong, in Reno, NV. He worked as a salesman for Sears and a carpet contractor in California. He was a full time Pastor for the Pentecostal Church of God at various locations in California and the Cleveland TN, Church of God in Oregon. He served as a minister for over 55 years. Lester married Juanita Smith Haskins on May 29, 1999 in Grants Pass, OR.
Lester is preceded in death by his father, George Allen McDonald; mother, Lydia Jane Haddock McDonald; brothers: Arthur and Elmer McDonald; first wife, Helen Irene McDonald; sons: Warren Arley and Lester Leon McDonald.
Lester is survived by his wife, Juanita McDonald of the home; daughter, Linda Anette Folkner (Rev. Larry Folkner) of Exeter, CA; step-son, Nathaniel Robert Stewart Haskins of Clovis, NM; step-daughters: Cheryl Lee Hanson (Devon Hanson) of Weed, CA and Robin Jewel Haskins of Bellflower, CA; grandsons: Jeremy Folkner of Exeter, CA and Steven McDonald (Heather McDonald) of Vancouver, WA; granddaughters: Amanda Gamer (Mike Garner) of Sherman, TX, and Jennifer Noblitt (Mark Noblitt) of San Antonio, TX.
