Martha Shirley Royal, 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Harold Burrell officiating.

Anna Martha Shirley was born August 30, 1933 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Claud William Shirley, Sr. and Minnie Peacock Ash Shirley. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1950. She worked until her retirement with Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Martha was a member of First Baptist Church.
Martha has been described as “a strong lady with strong kids”. She made it her life’s goal to work herself out of a job. She did just that by teaching her children the importance of being self-sufficient and not bragging. She enjoyed cooking, especially for the family she loved so dearly. Martha was always up for travel. Her favorite destinations were the mountains and Alaska. This strong woman always had an opinion and did not mind sharing her views on politics.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Jean Bobroskie and her husband, Mike, Dawn Easom and Richard Gordon and his wife, Christy, all of Tallahassee; her siblings, Marlene Vickers and her husband, Bonial of Whigham, Betty Sue Musgrove, Peggy Merkison, Lucile Shirley, all of Bainbridge, Claude Shirley of Climax, Sadie Kirkland of Colquitt and Glenn Shirley of Blackshear; her grandchildren, Edwin, Joe, Tim and Chrissie; and her great-grandchildren, Emily and Parker. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Jacque Royal; and her siblings, Birdye Dennis, Beck Cliett and Bill Shirley.
