Rebecca Lucille Malone, 81, of Ruskin, Florida, formerly of Connersville, went to be with her Lord, on Saturday, Oct. 28,2017, while a resident at the Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville, IN.

She was born on July 1,1936 in Rock Castle County, KY. She was the daughter of Russell and Emma Pearl (Purcell) Brown--both preceded her in death.

She graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1955. She was one of the first car hops at Kunkel's Restaurant in Connersville. After working at Kunkel's, she was employed at American Kitchens in Connersville. She was a very loving mother and was very active in all of her sons' school activities while they were growing up. A very devout Christian, she attended the Park Place Church of God for many years. She helped start the Friendship Bible Coffee, which is part of the Stonecroft Ministries, in Connersville. She was a very active member of the Fayette County Economics Club. She was known for being a wonderful cook and loved to enter pies, Vegetable and foods she had canned in the Fayette County and Indiana State Fair competitions. In 1976, the Indiana Extension Homemaker Association presented her with the Jane Award for Leadership and for being the Top Homemaker in the state of Indiana. She also loved to help people and was involved in one of the first blood drives in Fayette County. When sh began to spend winters in Florida, and later moved there, she was very active in the Manatee RV Park. She was known as the unofficial ambassador for the park and did many public relations activities for the park. She also was very active in the Manatee Community Church in the Park. She really enjoyed being a member of the Red Hats Society in Ruskin, FL.

She was a wonderful wife to her husband of 62 years--John Malone. They were married on June 4, 1955 in Connersville, IN. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She leaves behind two sons--John Russell and Jane Malone of Connersville and Stephen Allison and Leisa Malone of Fairland, IN; two grandchildren--John Ryan and Christina Malone of Ponte, Vedra, FL and Rachel and Justin Ratz of Brookville, IN; 4 great-grandchildren--Reghan and Brooklyn Ratz and Kiley and Landon Malone; two sisters--Roberta Rasner and Forrest Cummins of Shelbyville, IN and Margaret and Richard Harris of Gulf Shores, ALA; two sister-in-laws--Phyllis Brown of Indianapolis and Rev. Betty Malone of Marshall, MI; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends in Connersville and also in Manatee RV Park.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers--Russell and Joe Brown and a sister--Mary May.

The funeral service for Lucille will be held on Friday, Nov. 3,2017 at 1 p.m. at the Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, located at 513 West 8th Street, Connersville, IN. Rev. Betty Malone, Lucille's sister-in-law, of Marshall, MI. will officiate the service. Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3,2017 at the Urban-Winkler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery in Connersville, IN.
