Martha Lou Blankenship Bowman, 73, of Bradshaw, WV, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, in the McDowell Nursing And Rehabilitation Center at Gary, WV, following a long illness.
Martha was born March 23, 1944 in Bradshaw, WV, a daughter of the late Ira "Fats" J. Blankenship (1914-1965) And Cora Maloney-Blankenship (1912-1990).
She was a retired Teacher Aide of the McDowell County Board of Education. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles and cooking Sunday dinner for her family; she was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ira "Crockett" Blankenship (1941-1993).
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bill Bowman of the home; three sons, William Todd Bowman and wife Veronica Bowman of Bradshaw WV, Robert K. "Bobby" Bowman and wife Debbie Bowman of Welch WV, and Patrick Allen Bowman and companion Verna Barnett of Raysal, WV; one granddaughter, Ashley Bowman of Bradshaw, WV; one brother, John H. Blankenship of Bradshaw, WV; and a special friend and room mate, Linda Nance of the McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gary, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 11:00 with Reverend Carolyn Bishop officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Riffe Cemetery on Atwell Mountain near Atwell, WV.
