Kathryn Belle “Katie” Long, age 17, born in Montgomery, AL and a resident of Baker, FL died Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Stockton. Katie was born with Miller-Dieker Syndrome and was special needs. She was not expected to live to the age of two but exceeded any and all doctors' expectations. Her sassiness and fiestiness was unstoppable. She had a special light inside of her that radiated to all that came in contact with her. If there ever was a princess, Katie Belle was it. If there ever was an angel on Earth, she was that too.

Although she never spoke with words she taught people plenty--faith, stamina, resilience, oomph and sheer will. Her memory will be eternal and her fighting spirit will live on forever. Fly high, our sweet girl and through your spirit we will all strive to be our best selves.

She is survived by her parents, William E. “Billy” Long, Jr. of Eliska, AL and Tracy Huggins Long of Baker, FL; two brothers, Jared Wayne Long of Auburn, AL and Calvin Zander Long, II of Baker, FL; maternal grandparents, Deryl Wayne Huggins and Martha Jo Huggins of Georgiana, AL,; paternal grandmother, Margaret Jane Long of Bay Minette, AL; paternal great grandmother, Angeline Light of Mandeville, AL; aunts, Paige (Tracy) James of Jefferson City, TN, Beth (Michael Marston) Watts of Daphne, AL, Margaret (Joey Plato) Brannan of White House Fork and Rebecca (Jim) Jordan of Bay Minette, AL; cousins, Zac James, Lindsay James, Justin James, Joley James, Thomas (Crystal) Brannan, Marlee Brannan, Anna Brannan, Gracie Watts, Thomas Watts, Bryant Jordan and Griffin Marston; and numerous friends, family and the entire staff at Richbourg School in Crestview, FL.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, William E. “Red” Long, Sr.; her aunt, Monica Ann Long and uncle Tom Brannan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Allan Stephenson and Randy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Eliska Community Cemetery in Eliska, AL.
