Wanda was born April 17, 1933 in Bradshaw, WV, a daughter of the late Elza Lee Hopkins Sr. (1908-1986) and Georgia A. Dove-Hopkins (1911-1985).
She was an educator and retired from the McDowell County Board of Education in 1989. She then moved to North Carolina where she taught for several years before moving to Greenbrier County where she resided until 2000. Wanda then moved back to Avondale where she resided until her failing health required her to move into the McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2016.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clyde Mullins (1929-2012); one brother, Elza Lee "Toby" Hopkins Jr. (1946-1997); and one sister, Darlene Hopkins-Couch (Deceased).
Survivors include one daughter, Joy Mullins-Stafford and husband Mike Stafford of Avondale, WV; two sons, Tommy Mullins and wife Leaguine Mullins of Hanover, and Preston Mullins and wife Courtney Mullinsof Garland, WV; a very special grandson, whom she helped raise, Jerry Mullins of IL; four grandchildren, Angela Stress and husband Eddie Stress of TN, Scott Mullins and wife Mary Mullins, and Jason Mullins and wife Amy Mullins of Hanover; great grandchildren, Alexis Mullins, Devin Mullins, Coltin Mullins, Payton Stress, Broklyn Matney and Regan Stafford; and a great-great grandson, Mason Mullins.
A short memorial will be conducted Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 12:00 with Reverend Johnnie Stanley officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV.
