Paul Geoffrey Oliver, age 68, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his residence with his wife and daughter by his side after courageously fighting an illness for the past several months.
He was born on July 29, 1947 in Caldwell, Ohio to Paul G. and Vera (Miller) Oliver.
Geoff was a U.S. Marines Vietnam Veteran and retired in 2013 as Superintendent of the Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department, where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the VFW.
Geoff enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all cherished being "Pop Pop" to his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beth Ann (Lepley) Oliver; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Matthew Anderson of Portland, Oregon; two grandsons, Marco and William Anderson; his mother, Vera Oliver of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Myra (Andy) Rink of Michigan and Barb (Sherrill) Luce of Newark; and a nephew, Wes (Heather) Luce of Newark, and their sons, Seth and Collin.
Geoff was preceded in death by his father.
The family will observe private funeral services. The Lasater Funeral Homes are handling the services for the Oliver family.
