His last Census was the 1940, in Detroit. He did not report to the draft board in 1942 for the WWII registration, so either he had died by then or his age excused him from registering.

See son Vernon's Findagrave page for more details.

(His birth year is calculated, by subtracting years of age at his first marriage, from the year of that marriage. Burial place is that stated in a family tree, not yet verified by public records. The place may be connected somehow to the family of his second wife. He remarried in the 1920s in the Detroit area, at about the same time that his daughters married. At the time of marriage, the second wife reported having a nursing career in Illinois or otherwise had done nursing work in Ill. No obvious records have been for her under the two surnames reported at marriage, one probably a maiden name, the other a prior maiden name. Was the first name she used a nickname? This writer's spouse descends from William's sister Elisabeth W. "Lizzie" Frank who married Edwin N. Williams, then moved to Priest River with Edwin's mother, thrice-widowed Mary Eliza Overacker at death, maiden name French. )
