Baptist missionary. He was principally best-known as an active slavery abolitionist and was Baptist Missionary to Jamaica from 1836 to 1866. He was associated with abolitionist, James Sherman's Independent Congregational Surrey Chapel, and was active within the Baptist Missionary Society which was soon to become well-known for their work towards the abolition of slavery.
