She graduated from Hazel Green High School where she was a cheerleader and active student council member. She also taught at Hazel Green Elementary. Traveling was a big part of her life as evident by all the states and international travel she made with friends and family. She was employed at Martin Industries for 20+ years. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Toney Methodist Church and helped build the new church building that stands today. Joan loved singing, had a beautiful voice, and sang in the church choir. She was a devout Christian and loved Jesus Christ. Her desire was for all to know Jesus as their personal savior. She was loved by everyone.
