William Lee Carey, 80, passed away at his home in Loveland on April 17, 2016. He was born the son of Byrl and Mae (DeGraw) Carey in Cheyenne, Wyoming on September 10, 1935. On December 9, 1953, Bill joined the US Navy where he served until 1962 as a radioman, traveling the world and forming lifelong friendships. Bill came home on Leave to marry his sweetheart Dorothy Benson in Denver on September 11, 1955. They moved to Hawaii where he was stationed on ship before being transferred to the Pentagon in Washington DC. His last tour was based out of Jacksonville, Florida where he served on the Destroyer USS Noa when they picked up astronaut John Glenn. After being discharged from the Navy, Bill returned to Cheyenne with his wife and sons where he worked for Clicquot Club before accepting a position with Frito-Lay. Later he was promoted to district manager and moved to Casper, Wyoming. In 1976 he made his final move to Loveland, Colorado where he worked as a core driver for NAPA Rayloc until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed family gatherings with his "Nebraska & Wyoming cousins", vacations with the "Navy Bunch" his family and NASCAR. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Carey; their three sons, William (Rhonda) Carey, Daniel Carey and Brian Carey; grandchildren, Rita (Aaron) Chadwick, Zachary Carey and Mark Carey; great-grandchildren, Alison & Tyler Chadwick. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 29th at First Christian Church, 2000 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland.
