Lula Pearl Carroll, 81 of Corsicana, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. She was born March 18, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas to Andrew and Pearl Mayfield.
She was a loving and caring person who cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lula was a graduate of Baylor University and taught school for thirty years in Blooming Grove and Corsicana. Over the years, she worked in the First United Methodist Church nursery and served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Her passion in life was all about kids. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Corsicana, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
Lula is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ray D. Carroll; sons Jim and wife Emily, Ray and wife Gayla; grandsons Christopher Carroll, Ray Carroll III, Matthew Carroll, Cullen Carroll and Clay Carroll. She is survived by numerous great grandchildren but spent many days caring for Payton and Weston Carroll during their early childhood. Lula is also survived by Mary Mayfield, sister in law of Port Neches, Texas; sister Patsy O'Neal of Leesville, Texas; brother Wayne Mayfield of Vinton, Louisiana and David Mayfield of Groves, Texas.
A graveside memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, Texas with Ronny Waldrip officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Carroll, Ray Carroll III, Matthew Carroll, Cullen Carroll, Clay Carroll.
