Carolyn Marie Baker, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born April 25, 1940, in Jefferson City, daughter of the late Otto B. and Irene J. (Schetzler) Scheppers. On December 19, 1981, Carolyn was united in marriage at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to James Kenneth Baker, who preceded her in death. Carolyn worked for Sheltered Workshop and was also a babysitter. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Carolyn enjoyed gardening and planting four o'clock flowers.

Carolyn is survived by five children: Debbie Hutinger (husband Joe) of Holts Summit, Mo.; Douglas Strope of Jefferson City, Mo.; Denise Sapp (husband Dave) of Maryland; Dale Strope of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Dennis Strope of Jefferson City, Mo.; three siblings: Donald J. Scheppers (wife Deborah) of Jefferson City, Mo.; Betty Scheppers of Jefferson City, Mo.; Kathleen Nevins (husband Jerry) of Brazito, Mo.; three grandchildren: Wesley Strope, Bessie Lee Sapp, and Sam Sapp; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by six siblings: Patricia Rackers, Bernard "Butch" Scheppers, William Richard Scheppers, Charles Scheppers, Lisa Scheppers, and Dianne Hammann. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sheltered Workshop.
