Arthur Estill Gardner, 95, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home in Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Christine Brammer Gardner.

Born in Goddard, Kentucky, on March 12, 1922, he was the son of the late James and Rose Gulley Gardner.

He worked for January Wood Cotton Mill for 30 years and Copeland Corporation for 12 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving during WWII in Normandy. He was a member of the Maysville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

He is survived by his children, Larry Gardner of Carlisle, Mike Gardner and wife Cyndi of Lexington, Sharon Hartley and husband Ronnie of Paris, and Lisa Head and husband Bruce of Beckville, TX; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ervin Gardner, Mable Hamilton, and Stella Sapp; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Connie Fetters; his parents; and his siblings, Beulah Turner, Huff Gardner, Steve Gardner, Omar Chester Gardner, and Ova Gardner.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, November 1st, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Brenda Routt officiating. Burial will follow in Wedonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11-12 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
