In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Eugene, Kenneth Douglas and William Carl Smith; two brothers, William H. and Edwin Lightfoot and a sister, Sarah L. Rice. Virginia was a member of the Hendersonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church and attended the Waynesville Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Virginia is survived by her husband, William H. Horton; son, Douglas Alan Smith, and his wife, Barbara; four grandchildren, Michael Stephen, Karen Elizabeth, Dawn Elisabeth and David Paul Smith; one great-granddaughter, Kacey Taylor Eichhorn; and one daughter-in-law, Dianne Smith.
