Please note that Maine did not become a separate state from Massachusetts until 1820. When Moses was born, Maine did not exist, therefore, some records list him as born in Massachusetts. However, by the time he was listed on a census in 1850, the area where he was born was now considered to be Maine.

I do not have proof, but I believe this is the Moses Mills Craft who served in the War of 1812 as a Captain in Lt. Col. Samuel Holland's Regiment, MA Militia, Sep 14, 1814-Sep 24, 1814...raised at Jay Co MA...service at Portland.

He was a son of Moses Craft and Hadassah Mills. Moses Craft was a Lt. in the Revolutionary War, MA, 37 Regt, Capt Phineas Cook's Co, DAR #A027180. Moses Craft was born Aug 17, 1754 in Newton, Middlesex County, MA & died Mar 5, 1812 in Jay, Franklin County, Maine, Dist MA. Hadassah Mills Craft was born Sept 27, 1760 in Newton, Middlesex County, MA and died Sept. 15, 1833 in Wilton, Franklin County, Maine.

His first wife was Rhoda Stone. After her death in 1837, I believe he came west to Pike/Calhoun county, Illinois. At the age of 61, he married Mary Jane "Polly" Oldham Harlow on June 17, 1841 in Pike County, Illinois. She was the widow of Nelson Harlow.

Census 1840 Pleasant Hill Area, Pike Co, Illinois:
Moses M. Craft was head of a household with 2 males living in it, one male age 30-40 and one male age 50-60.

Census 1850 Belleview, Calhoun County, Illinois:
Head of Household was:
Moses M. Craft b. 1780 Maine
Mary Jane Craft b. 1798 Kentucky (his wife)
Humphrey D. Harlow b. 1831 Missouri (Her son from her first marriage)
They lived one house away from her daughter, Mary Harlow Anderson in Howell Hollow.

There are two creek rocks marking graves as you enter the cemetery. These two stones may mark the final resting place of Moses M. Craft and Mary Jane "Polly" Oldham Harlow Craft Wells. I have no proof they are buried in this cemetery, only supposition.
