Steven Thomas Wiley, of Hoschton, died peacefully in Northeast Georgia Medical Center, on October 21, 2017 in Gainesville, Georgia at the age of 72.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Pastor Ron Cope will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday October 27, 2017 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Steven T. Wiley was born on October 4, 1945 in Lakewood, New Jersey to Warner Ames and Marjorie Wiley.
He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1964; he attended college in Virginia.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1965, and was medically retired in 1979.
In the early 1980's he moved to Georgia and began working for the United Stated Postal Service.
On July 27, 1996, he married Elaine Wiley in Lithonia, Georgia. His children remember him as a loving father who loved traveling with his children and taking them to baseball games, and he always encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams.
Steven was loyal, compassionate and well-known within his local community. Steven loved to engage in conversation with new and old friends. He lived life like he'd never met a stranger, and he was a witty individual who loved politics and sports. Steven was a man of firm conviction.
He loved the Lord and his church he was an active dedicated member of the Church of Christ at Chestnut Mountain.
Steven is survived by his wife, Elaine Wiley (Hoschton, Georgia); children, Novis Wiley (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Andre (Miranda) Wiley (Lake Charles, Louisiana), Gwendolyn (Cedric) Owens (Snellville, Georgia) and Kevin (Tameka) Walker (Douglasville, Georgia) ; siblings, Eugene Wiley (Tucson, Arizona), Fred Wiley (Newark, New Jersey), and Evelyn Wiley (Los Angeles, California); Aunt, Shirley Durant (Durham, North Carolina); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wiley and Carol Mottley; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; special nieces, Sherri Wiley, LaTreece Mottley, and Andrea Jackson (who he loved like a daughter); other nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warner Ames and Marjorie Wiley; and brothers, Warren Wiley and Jackie Wiley.
