Carl Walter Johnson, 89 of Embarrass died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born in 1917 in Sebeka, the youngest of 11 children born to Peter and Louise Johnson. He married Alice Johnson in 1937 and together they farmed in Sebeka until 1956. They moved to Babbitt where Carl worked for Reserve Mining. In 1958 he moved to Cloquet where he owned and operated Johnson's Store on Big Lake Road until 1962. While living in Cloquet, Carl was a member of the Eagles Club. He sold the store and moved to Embarrass returning to work at Reserve Mining until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Aurora Moose Lodge, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Embarrass, and the United Steel Workers Union. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Carl was preceded in death by six sisters, four brothers, two grandsons, Kyle and Scott Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Sheri Bystrom; and his son-in-law, Charles McPeak. He is survived by his wife, Alice of Carlton; daughter, Carolyn McPeak of Embarrass; sons, Dennis 'Butch' (Kathleen) of Cloquet, Peter (Judy) of Cloquet, and Michael (Tana) of Embarrass; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. MEMORIAL SERVICE:2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
