Mrs. Mary Louise Behrens, 85, of California, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. She was the wife of the late Robert Donald Behrens.

Born September 17, 1932 in Washington, D.C., Mary was the daughter of the late Edwin and Pearl Meredith.

Mary worked for many years as a substitute teacher at the Good Shepherd Preschool and Kindergarten in Waldorf, Maryland. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put others before herself--making sure, for example, that low-income and at-risk youth had presents to open on Christmas Day.

Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Clark, and her brother, John Kenneth Meredith. She is survived by her brothers Edwin Meredith and Robert Meredith, her daughter Karen Cole and husband Frederick, and grandchildren Jamie Fisher, Glen Cole, and Stacey Cole. Mary is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren Nicholas, Chase, and Max Fisher.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Boonsboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside services at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro
