Valerie J. Nicholson, age 77, longtime resident of Pulaski and Sandy Pond, and winter resident of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.

Valerie was born December 6, 1938 in New York City. She graduated from SWA High School in Floral Park, NY and earned her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Oswego.

Valerie was married to Edward Nicholson on April 17, 1960. She was employed as an Elementary Teacher, teaching 5th grade, at Laura Sharp Elementary in Pulaski for 27 years, retiring in 1995. She also taught at Ohio St. Elementary in Watertown. Valerie was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski, the Pulaski Historical Society, Elms Golf Club and the ADE Sorority.

Surviving are her husband, Edward, two sons, Thomas (Tammy) Nicholson of Ontario and Timothy (Malinda) Nicholson of Central Square, one sister, Diana Lawlor of Villages, FL, and three grandchildren, Ryan, Conner and Andrew.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10th at St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Lake Street, Pulaski, NY 13142, with burial in Pulaski Cemetery. There will be a reception following services at the Elms Golf Club in Sandy Creek. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
