Keith Jay Harris, 91, a retired auto mechanic, of Fostoria, Michigan and a winter resident of Ocala, FL, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. He was born in Mayville, MI to Carl and Laura Harris and has been wintering in Ocala since 1992. Keith graduated Mayville High School in 1944 and in the fall of that same year joined the US Navy. He served in the South Pacific until the end of WWII, and married his high school sweetheart, Bernice Richardson Harris, who preceded him in death in 2012 after 67years of marriage. Together they raised 5 children. Keith enjoyed dancing, camping, boating, fishing, and many outdoor activities with his family. In his retirement years, he lived for golf and billiards, and socializing with friends from Spanish Oaks and Greenbrier. He was a charter member of the North Branch (MI) Lions Club and very active in the community. Keith was predeceased by his wife Bernice, his son Kenneth Harris, brothers Carl J. Harris and Dean Harris, and sisters Verona Simpson and Judy Allen. He is survived by four children; Wayne Harris and Anabel of North Branch, MI; David Harris and Kathleen of Caseville, MI; Pamela Parrott and Larry of Otter Lake, MI; and Peggy Roselle and Douglas of Fernandina Beach, FL; daughter in law Laura Harris of Mio, MI; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sisters Nona Simnitch and Yalon Kunkle. Graveside service will be held at the Rich Township Cemetery in Mayville, MI on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at Deerfield Township Hall. Memorial donations can be made to the Lions Club or the American Cancer Society.
