Monte was born to Walter & Mildred Scott.
He graduated from Ravenna (NE)High School in 1950 and received his Baccalaureate in 1953 and his M.D. degree in 1957 from the University of Nebraska.
He was a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, AOA, and Phi Chi Medical fraternity.
After receiving his M.S., he served ten years in the United States Army at hospitals in Denver, San Antonio, and Tacoma, achieving the rank of Major.
Dr. Scott became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1971.
He was a life member and Chairman of the Task Force of AIDS in 1987 and was president of the Nebraska Society of Internal Medicine in 1982. After practicing Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Platte Valley Medical Group in Kearney, NE from 1965-1969, served in many boards, the most recent being the Tabitha Hospice Advisory Board and consulted for the Nebraska Health and Human Services System.

Daughters: Dr. Kim Scott-Pozil (Dr. Larry), Ann (Dr. Douglas) Long and Jayne (Dr. James) Hoffmann
Grandchildren: Eric, Scott, Niki, Robyn, Jake, Spencer and Jason, Tyler, Keeva
Great grandchildren: Sara, Annemarie, Charlotte, Ryan, Jace and Ryann
