On Oct. 21, 2017, the Alexander family lost our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Fred Alexander to a heart attack.

Fred was a very happy, loving, kind Christian man who lived to serve his family and the Lord.

Fred was born to Rose and Bettis Alexander on Dec. 18, 1929, and was raised by Jim and Evelyn Alexander, from Cos Jacket/Tolovana.

In 1954, Fred had married his wife, Rita Charlie, from Minto, who was born to Moses and Bessie Charlie.

Together they had eight children.

During his journey of life, Fred developed many skills and worked in the carpentry, demolition, railroad and maintenance industries.

He also worked on the Nenana steamwheelers.

He enjoyed the traditional Native culture, attending church, hunting and trapping, and spending time with his family.

He shared many stories with his family that will be remembered by all.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents,

Rose and Bettis Alexander,

and Jim and Evelyn Alexander;

brothers,

Moras and Gilbert Alexander;

wife,

Rita Alexander;

sons,

Marvin,

Roger and Douglas Alexander;

daughters,

Janice Alexander-Fedosh,

Charlene and Maxine Alexander;

and grandson,

Greg Ketelson.

He is survived by his son,

Hubert Alexander;

grandchildren,

April and Adrian Pulido,

Stephanie and Robert BigJoe,

Robert Kyle Alexander,

Kiefer Alexander,

Skye Juneby and Bessie Stearman;

great-grandchildren,

Janet,

Luisa and Adrian Jr.

Pulido,

Niheilia Rain Alexander,

Andrew BigJoe,

Linea,

Maxine and Joy Stearman;

and many cousins and extended family members throughout Alaska.

The Alexander family will have a viewing at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Fairbanks Funeral Home, with a funeral service and traditional potlatch at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Minto.

All are welcome to attend and will be greatly appreciated.
