Henry Bresser was probably born between 1610 and 1620 at co. Essex, England.

In 1651 he was a tobacco planter and received a patent for 32 acres of land on Long Island somewhere north of the ferry and nearly opposite of the land he had acquired of Lookermans.
In 1653 he had bought a parcel of land from Loockermans on the East River next to Van Borsum's, the Ferry Man.
In 1654 he violated the ordinances to remain at New Amsterdam, enacted on the belief that the English were preparing to attack, and went to New England. He returned in 1655 and it was decided by the Council at New Amsterdam that despite the fact that he left during times of trouble, Henry should be allowed to return to settle his affairs but was not to become domiciliated. However, he did remain in New Netherland.
In 1657 he was a small burgher.
He was invovled with the legal proceedingd involving the settlement of the estate of Jan Hutsitson who died at Henry's home in the fall of 1658.
Jan's will of 4 Oct 1658 names Henry's children: Susanna Bresar (Jan's godchild), Mary Bresar, Rebecca Bresar and Martje Bresar.
On 8 Feb 1659, the town of Gravesend agreed that Henry Brasier should build a grist mill.

To my other two sons, Isaac and Abraham, 5 shillings. To my daughters each (not named), 5 shillings. Leaves rest to wife Susannah, and to her heirs forever, and makes her executor.
