He was born on April 18, 1943, in Glenwood, Arkansas, to William and Beatrice (Richards) Parker. Don attended Alexandria schools. He retired from General Motors after 43 years of employment.
Don was a member of the Alexandria Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Don got the most enjoyment from the time he got to spend with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Fletcher) Parker, whom he married Sept. 27, 1963; son, Ron (Marcia) Parker of Summitville; daughter, Rhonda (John) Beeman of Anderson; grandsons, Dylan Parker, John Beeman and Ethan Beeman; sister, Joy Howard of Summitville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
Services honoring Don's life and legacy will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery, near Yorktown.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 pm prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
