Cathy Ann Kaltz, 61, of Gulliver, Michigan died on October 24, 2017, at her home in Doyle Township.

She was born January 15, 1956 in Lapeer, Michigan the daughter of George and Anna McNalley. She attended Lapeer schools and was a graduate of Lapeer High School with the Class of 1974.

On February 13, 1976 the former Cathy A. McNalley married Thomas Kaltz. They made their home in Lapeer and raised their daughter, Krystal there.

Cathy worked in many different aspects of the pharmacy profession. She was a Pharmacy Certified Technician (PCT) in both retail and hospital settings, coordinator of the pharmacy technician program at Lapeer Vo-Tech, sat on the board of examiners for the PCT program, was the central regional representative for the Michigan Society of Pharmacy Technicians, and was also a sales representative for several generic drug companies.

In the years before retirement, she served as the office manager and payroll for the local field office of Automatic Systems Inc. of Kansas City, Mo.

She and Tom retired and moved to the shores of Gulliver Lake in the Upper Peninsula in August of 2000. There, Cathy rekindled her interest in sewing and discovered a love for the art of quilting. She also enjoyed golfing, her grandsons, Motown and the Blues, chocolate with hot pepper, and burned hot dogs.

She took a part-time job in the fitness center at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, which evolved into her becoming a Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist. She worked with companies to enhance the health and wellness of their employees, donated her time to teach wellness classes to local groups and organizations, and wrote “Just For the Well Of It,” a wellness column for the Pioneer Tribune in Manistique.

In health, even in sickness, Cathy continued working after her diagnosis with ovarian cancer in 2010, and she liked to say she LIVED with cancer rather than battling it through two rounds of chemotherapy and two rounds of radiation. She’d like people to remember that “Teal is For Real,” and there’s more than just pink when it comes to cancer.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Tom Kaltz; daughter, Krystal Moralee; her “buddies” – grandsons, Logan and Jordan Johns; parents, George and Anna McNalley; sister, Patty Myers; brother, Jim (Jody) McNalley; nephews, Jim McNalley and Josh Meuli; son-in-law, Derrek Moralee and his daughter, Grace; many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law on the Kaltz side; and numerous dear friends.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Chamberlin’s Ole Forest Inn in Curtis, Michigan.

Donations in her memory may be directed to the Healing Gardens Project at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, 7870W US Highway 2, Manistique, MI 49854, where she wanted to have a Little Free Library and bench for people to enjoy.
