The funeral of Mrs. John Schornack, a highly esteemed lady of Groton, was held from the Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. F. E. Wilke officiating. Mrs. Schornack died Saturday after an illness of three weeks' duration. The cause was Brights's disease.

Mrs. Schornack was a native of Wisconsin, bein born at Milwaukee on April 7, 1857, and came to South Dakota in 1882, settling on a farm north of Groton. She was one of the early pioneers of the county and her long life in this section was noted for its unselfish devotion to friends and unswerving loyalty to her church and community. She had lived in Groton since 1912 when she and her husband retired from the farm and came here to make their home.

She was married to Mr. Schornack in 1876 and to this union ten children were born, five of whom are living. They are: Louie Schornack, Aberdeen; Mrs. Herman Urban, Eldridge, N. D.; Mrs. H. J. Van Bramer, Groton; and Mrs. H. C. Buchanan, of Portland, Ore. Half brothers and sisters are Mrs. F. Krause, Seattle, Wash.; Pauline Loerch, Seattle; Otto and Gustav Loerch, Portland, Ore., and Wm. Loerch of Winona, Minn. Also two sisters, Mrs. C. Pollnow of Neilsville, Wis. and Mrs. A. Erdmann of Groton.

Following the funeral the remains were taken to their last resting place in Groton cemetery and tenderly laid away beneath the sod she loved so well.
