A graveside service only for Ray Allen, 90, of Lampasas will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 27 at Pidcoke Cemetery in Pidcoke with Jim Rutland officiating. Mr. Allen passed away in Temple on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. He was born December 4, 1926 in Pidcoke, TX to Kyle B. and True (Thompson) Allen. He attended Pidcoke and Gatesville schools until volunteering for the Army Air Force shortly before graduation in 1945. He received his GED while in the Army Air Force and served until 1947. Ray met and married his sweetheart Jewel Annis Allen on April 11, 1946. They settled in Lampasas in 1950 where Ray was employed by Cameron Lumber Co. He became Vice-President of the Lampasas Savings and Loan and served on Lampasas City Council. He was also an FHA and VA Appraiser. Ray stayed very active coaching baseball, being an avid golfer, hunting and fishing, and being a very enthusiastic fan of Texas Longhorn football. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Allen Albrecht; and a brother, Gerald Allen of Harker Heights. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Ray Allen Jr and wife Twila of Belton; Kyle L. Allen of Richland Springs; and Christopher Allen and wife Cindy of Austin; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Lampasas Golf Association. Sneed Funeral Home in Lampasas is in charge of arrangements.
