Douglas May Dew of Marlboro is Fatally Shot
Bennettsville Aug 18 Special A 52 year old Marlboro County man Douglas May Dew was fatally wounded last night in a shooting fracas.
Dew died at 7;30 pm a few minutes after his admission to the hospital. He was shot in the heart and lungs.
His son in law Albert Freeman is in the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds of the lungs.
Chief Davis said that murder charges will be filed against Freeman when and if he recovers.
Coroner Frances Stanton impaneled a jury. An inquest will be set later.
Funeral services for Dew will be conducted at 3 pm Monday in the Second Baptist Church with the Rev BK Liles officiating.
Surviving are Dew's widow the former Annie Mae Pruitt; two daughters Mrs Freeman and Mrs Sara Mumford five sons William D, JW, Johnny, Billy Ray and Bobby Lee Dew; and his mother Mrs William Dew.
