Obituary for Mrs. Jerry W. Brock
Jerry W. Brock, 68, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Brock was born January 14, 1949, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Raymond and Novake Banks.
Mrs. Brock was a 1967 graduate of Columbus High School. She attended Indiana University and completed her bachelor’s degree from Temple University and she later earned her master’s degree from Drake University.
An educator, Mrs. Brock worked as a teacher and school counselor in several schools within the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation and in other mid-western states.
She was long-time member of First Lutheran Church and was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Bartholomew County Area Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Brock was a devoted mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed reading and going to church.
Mrs. Brock is survived by her children, Amanda Brock of Columbus, Nick (Kristin) Brock of Bear Creek, Wisconsin, and Chris (Sarah) Brock of Bloomington; her grandchildren, Brynnley and Brogan Brock; sisters, Frances (Roger) Bean of Columbus, Elaine Seitz of Columbus, and Angie Barnett of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Jeff) Sexton of Louisville, Kentucky; and nieces and nephews, Nathan Bean, Nicole Steele, Derek Gumm, and Melissa Bragg.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary D. Brock.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Isbell officiating.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 – 9:45 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Lutheran Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
