James Hugh Burkhart was born on January 4, 1937 in Indian Mound, Tennessee, the son of Dewey Leslie Burkhart (1901-1957) and Naomi E (Grizzard) Burkhart (1912-1994).
He was married to Velma Olene Austin (1943-2011), the daughter of Morris "Elbert" Austin (1918-1988) and his 1st wife Katie M (Carter) Austin (1919-1974). [Elbert was married 2nd on August 6, 1977 in Robertson County to Shirley Jene Stacey.]
Retired from Trane Company and still living in Indian Mound, James was 80 years old and a widower when he passed away at home on October 25 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, grandson Michael Melton and by his sisters Janie Ruth (Burkhart) Travis (1930-2002) and Ora Lee (Burkhart) McGovern, while survivors included a daughter, granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Service were held at Anglin Funeral Home, and burial was in Fairview Cemetery at Indian Mound.
