Anton Benes, Jr. was born on August 6, 1929 in Gonzales to Alta and Anton Benes, Sr.

He grew up farming, but made carpentry his trade.

Anton married Dorothy Smart on December 6, 1971 in Coleman.

Anton was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

He was a very religious man that never met a stranger.

He loved and enjoyed life. His favorite quote was, "You wanna go boot scootin' boogie?"

Anton is survived by his two daughters, Ann Blevins of Brownwood and Susan Torrez and husband Joe of Brownwood; a granddaughter, Jennifer Reed of Brownwood; a great-grandson, Zane "Cowboy" Fejeran of Brownwood; three sisters, Margie Whitmire of Georgia, Dorthy McCoy and friend Duane of Corpus Christi and Liz Vohl also of Corpus Christi; a lifelong close friend, Connie Olin of Brownwood and his faithful companion, Precious.

Anton was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-seven years, Dorothy Benes in 2008; his parents; three brothers, Joe, Johnny and Raymond and a sister, Marie Gallia.

Anton passed from this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Brownwood at age 88.
