KEANE, EDWARD F.
Age 85, of Hollywood Avenue, Warwick, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita M. (Gaudet) Keane for 64 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late James and Mary (Cull) Keane, he lived in Warwick since 1957. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and proudly served with the 11th Airborne Division.
Mr. Keane worked as a laborer and heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for many years.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, he is survived by his children, Edward F. Keane, Jr. (Coleen), Brenda L. Hastings (Michael), Tamara J. Keane (Tim), Stephen E. Keane (Lori), Ernest J. Keane (Tara), Rita M. Conway (Kevin), Jennifer L. Evans (Bob), Jo-Anne Hannon (John), Jean M. Keane (Peter), Christine M. McConnell (Corry), and Janice Kakela-Wolosko (Mark); a brother, James P. Keane; fifteen grandchildren, Melissa, Cori-Lyn, Ernie, Tammy, Donna, Robbie, Kevin, Jeriann, Karly, Samantha, Jack, Tim Jr., Michael, Devon, Andrew, and Kyle; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Donna Marie Keane; the grandfather of the late Michael L. Hastings, Jr. and Anthony Nadeau; and the brother of the late Mildred Bishop, Anna Mae Breen, Margaret Riley, Leon Keane, and Alice Norton.
Edward was known for his deep devotion to his family and his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children at their summer home in Narragansett, reading the morning paper while watching the boats at Galilee, morning coffee with Everett and friends, and most of all working on all of his children's homes.
We will miss his beautiful smile and words of encouragement "BETTER DAYS ARE COMING BABE."
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Levine and his assistants, Paula and Nancy, and Dr. Francis Basile.
His funeral will be held on Monday, October 30, at 8:45 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
