Frederick Charles Gross "Freddy G" of Hernando, Florida, passed away Monday, October 2nd 2017 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville. Born July 8, 1950 in Chestertown, MD, he was the son of the late Francis H. and Ruth A. (Mousley) Gross. Preceding him in death are son Dustin Gross, brother Larry Gross and sister Judy Gross. Surviving are son Travis Gross and daughter Tessa Gross of Mifflin, PA, siblings Bob Gross and wife Mary Gross of Canisteo, NY, Linda Snyder and husband George Snyder of Drums, PA, and June Dutcher of Winterhaven, FL.

Fred graduated the Class of 1968 from Towanda Area High School. Fred proudly served in the United States Naval Service on both the USS Lewis and Clark (SSBN 644) and the USS Remora (SS 487) and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Fred also worked as a technical specialist at the DuPont factory in Towanda, PA for 30 years and lived much of his life on "Tip Top" Mountain. He later moved to Hernando, FL where he enjoyed performing and singing his favorite songs on karaoke and playing softball for the Citrus County Senior Softball league.

He will be remembered by his friends and family for his hearty laughter and generous soul. He will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A ceremony will be held at the cemetery at 1pm on November 1st, 2017 and a gathering at the Inverness VFW Post 4337 shortly thereafter. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial to the VFW, the American Heart Association, or consider becoming an organ donor.
