Linda Marie Elsea, age 75, of Findlay, died peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017, in the Bridge Hospice Care Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born in Hancock County on November 29, 1941, to the late Thobern E. Price and Elnora L. (Switzer)Price. Linda graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School in 1959 and married Donald W. Elsea (deceased) on November 8, 1959. Linda is survived by her two daughters, Karen L. Salum and husband, Carlos Salum (and their cat Phteeng) of Charlotte, NC and Ann Marie Woods and husband, Gregory Woods of South Riding, VA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Woods; sisters-in-law, Neith Price and Diane Price and nephew, Mark Price. Preceding her in death was: her husband, Donald Elsea; a son, Kent W. Elsea; her father and mother, Thobern and Elnora Price; and two brothers, Dennis and David Price. Linda was intellectually curious, an artist and an avid reader. She enjoyed long conversations on a broad range of topics from energy healing to world news. She also enjoyed organizing and attending gatherings with Don, as well as supporting his passion for the Ham Radio Club. For Linda and Don, friendship was a core value and their kindness was rewarded with a large circle of friends in the community. Over the years, she participated in numerous groups such as the Findlay Art League, Bluffton Natural Health Chapter, Findlay Garden Club, Association for Research and Enlightenment and Mutual Interest Group/Search for God. She was also a Reiki Master and a Hospice volunteer for many years. She passed on her passion to her daughter, Karen, who carries on her concern for both Reiki and death with dignity. Some of her social activities included book clubs, discussions on art and spirituality, lectures at the University of Findlay, and the Red Hat Ladies/Lunch Bunch, as well as the Class of 41 Ladies' breakfast group. Linda also loved her dogs, Itsy Bitsy and Sophie, and her African grey parrot, Doc, her faithful companions and source of endless entertainment – a love she shared with her late son, Kent. She was passionate about her grandchildren, Austin and Ashley, and looked forward to spending time with them in Northern Virginia or during their visits to Ohio which often included visiting The Swan House Tea Room and the Root Beer stand, sampling Dietsch's ice cream balls, eating Jac & Do's pizza, and swimming and paddle boating on the lake. She was a genuine, joyful, generous and compassionate woman. She understood how to make her family's life special through her insightful observations, humor and comforting words. Linda will always be remembered by her echoing laughter, her empathy for others and her kindness, as well as her enduring certainty that there is a better way to be in the world. A Visitation and a Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Linda to reflect on the cherished memories and joy that she brought to all at a future date to be arranged. Arrangements have been entrusted to Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. Condolences can be made via www.coldrencrates.com.
