Amy Michelle Flower Holderman

July 5, 1969 — Jan. 15, 2009

MONTROSE — It is with deep sadness that our beloved daughter, sister and mother, Amy Michelle Flower Holderman, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 15, 2009 after a battle with breast cancer.

Amy was born on July 5, 1969 in Montrose, Colo. to Fred and Noreen Flower. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1987. She then attended CSU and graduated in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Social Science.

Amy married in 1991 to Dave Hickey and together they had a daughter, Christina Ann, on March 31, 1992. After their divorce, Amy returned to Montrose to be closer to her family and work at the family business, Flower Motor Company.

In 2002, Amy married Kenneth Holderman II, from Swannanoa, N.C. Together they resided in Montrose and raised their two sons, Kenneth Ray Holderman III and Hunter Lane Holderman and Amy’s daughter, Christina Ann. Amy loved her family dearly, and cherished every day she spent with them. She truly enjoyed life and loved being outdoors in the sun, just playing with the kids. She adored her dear friendships and family in Montrose, and her family in North Carolina. Her true passion was being by the ocean and beach. She loved taking trips with her family to tropical destinations and loved to watch the waves roll in.

Amy is survived by her husband, Ken Holderman II; her beautiful daughter, Christina Ann, age 16, and her darling sons, Kenny Jr., age 5, and Hunter Lane, age 3; her parents, Fred and Noreen Flower of Montrose; brothers, Fletcher and Kris Flower and their son Jack of Montrose, Fritz and April Flower and their sons Alex Flower and Justin and Jordan Smart of Montrose; and her grandmother, Julianne Nelson. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, JoAnn Holderman of Swannanoa, N.C.; her sister and brothers-in-law, Lisa Holderman and her children Andrew and Catherine, Phillip and Tonia Holderman and their children Brooke and Emily, Barbara and Jack Taylor and their children Justin, Jarrod and LeeAnn.

Amy is preceded in death by her grandparents, L. Fred Sr. and Julia Flower, Ted Nelson; and her father-in-law, Kenneth Ray Holderman I.

A celebration of Amy’s life will be held at Grace Community Church on Woodgate Road in Montrose on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.

At Amy’s request, please do not wear black; wear Hawaiian or beach attire, as the funeral will have a tropical theme.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to San Juan Cancer Center in memory of Amy Holderman; make check to San Juan Health Care Foundation, c/o Montrose Memorial Hospital, Attn: Mary Snyder, 800 S. 3rd St., Montrose, CO 81401.
