Eric was a graduate of Wicomico Senior High School, Class of 1972. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served until 1976. He was then employed by Norfolk Southern, formerly known as Conrail, where he held numerous titles until he retired after 28 years.
Eric was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, MD until his health began to fail
He was a family-oriented man who loved his children and grandchildren. He loved watching football and basketball. He looked forward to family gatherings. Eric was known for giving advice and encouraging words to others. He was never short of words. He was very outspoken, always saying what was on his mind.
In addition to his mother, Eric leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Cheryl McBride-Allen; a son, Dr. Craig M. Allen; three daughters, Crystal M. Allen, Erika Snead (Gregory), and Cheridan A. Allen; five brothers, Charles Goslee, Ken Goslee, Elder Mark Goslee (Angela), Lawrence D. Brown, Jr., and Damon Brown; seven sisters, Beatrice Goslee Harper (Orlando), Jalisa Pinkett, Germayna Brown, Talise Brown, Darlene Brown, Trineina Harrell, and Julie Robertson; his mother-in-law, Mary McBride; his father in-law, Charles Williams; three brothers-in-law, Leland Williams, Lance Williams, and Charles Williams, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Melissa McBride and Michelle Thompson; eight grandchildren, Jordan Allen, Jaylin Allen, Ziaire Banks, Ke'Shawn Banks, Rashon Banks, Jamere Banks, A'myah Snead, and Da'von Snead; a dedicated neighbor, "PT"; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Pearl Allen, grandfather, Olin Allen, and two grandchildren, Ty'rae Snead and Jy'rin Snead.
Mr. Allen will lie in repose on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 10 to 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church Cemetery, Columbia, DE.
