James Francis Greer, 76, of Duncan, SC, died at home on Friday, April 14, 2006.

Husband of Joe Anne Brown Greer; son of the late Frank White Greer and Carrie Jessie Smith Greer.

Retired Military Officer having served in combat in the Korean War and Vietnam War, he was a graduate of Wofford College, class of 1950, and a member of Duncan First Baptist Church since April 1939.

Survived by two sons, James F. Greer, Jr., of Houston, TX, and Jeffrey Emerson Greer of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two granddaughters, Alyson Elizabeth Greer and Rachel Anne Greer; one brother, Richard Greer of Tryon, NC; and three sisters, Alma Elledge, Wilma Odom and Ann Pitman, of Duncan.

Memorial services was held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Duncan First Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Clark conducted the service and assisted by Rev. Garry Harper. Special music was provided by Rev. Mitch Crow and Dan Greene.

Visitation was held prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. at Duncan First Baptist Church.

A wake to celebrate his life was held following the ceremony at The Walnut Grove Bed and Breakfast Inn starting at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, potential donors were asked to donate to The Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
