Dies Following
Long Illness
HOMER - Arthur R. Hapgood, 49, of Scott, RD 1, died in Orlando, Fla. Wednesday, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Malone, Oct. 3, 1921, the son of Harold M. and Louisa Johnson Hapgood.
Mr. Hapgood was an overseas veteran of World War 2 and a member of Burns-McCauliffe American Legion Post 465 of Homer and Tioughnioga Post, VFW, Cortland.
He was employed at Brewer-Tichner Corporation for 20 years, having worked there both before and after his military service.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Black Hapgood of Scott; his father, Harold M. Hapgood of Scott, Carl L. Hapgood, stationed with the U.S. Navy in Jacksonville, Fla., Gerald R. Hapgood of Scott and Arthur R. Hapgood of Scott; four daughters, Mrs. John (Celia) DeYoung of Cortland, Frances, Louisa and Lucinda Hapgood, all of Scott; and two grandchildren.
Private services will be held at Briggs Memorial Home at the convenience of the family. The Rev. James H. Russell, minister of the Homer Congregational Church, will officiate and interment will be in Scott Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and this evening from 7 to 9.
