Clarence L. Peters, 56, of 1306 Kelogg, a veteran of World War I, died Aug. 21, 1952, in Bath Veteran’s Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Peters was born, Oct. 3, 1894, in Utica, a son of Frank Peters and Johanna Stocker Peters Schreck. He served in France in 1917 and 1918 as a member of the 312th Regiment, 78th Infantry Division, and was wounded in the Battle of the Argonne.

On Aug. 14, 1922, Mr. Peters married Margaret McSweeney in St. John’s Church. He had been employed for the last three years by the Utica Transit Corporation and previously worked 17 years for the Barge Canal Division, State Department of Public Works. Mr. Peters was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart, a member of Adrean-Smith Post 368, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, Howard, a brother, Raymond Peters, both of Utica, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 Friday from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro, and at 9:30 from the Church of the Sacred Heart. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
