American Singer and Songwriter. Born Alberto Nelson Sanchez, he was a balladeer who pioneered a musical style by blending New Mexico folk music with the rhythms of rock, jazz and country, who released more than thirty albums in a career that spanned six decades. Early in his career, he gained fame singing in both Spanish and English, and often in Spanglish, a fusion of both languages. Among the nearly three dozen albums he would record, beginning in 1968, are 'Mi Saxophone', 'Canciones del Alma', 'Sigue Cantando', 'Corridos Canta', 'Instrumentales con Al Hurricane', 'Vestido Mojado', 'La Prision de Santa Fe', 'Exitos De Al Hurricane', 'The Return of Al Hurricane "EL" Godfather', 'The Legend of New Mexico', 'Siempre', 'Albuquerque', and 'Hey Sugar Baby!'. Hurricane died from complications of prostate cancer.
