Edward was born in the village of Linwood, Wellesley Twp; in the year 1881. He was a son of Valentine R. Berlet (1857-1933) and Mary Spahr (1861-1915). Birth Register #033091.

1901 census of Wellesley Twp; 19 years old.

He got married to Jennie Williamson on October 25th, 1904 in the town of Harriston, Wellington County. Marriage Register #019529.

They raised 4 known children in Ontario.
1. Arthur Valentine Berlet 1905-1968.
2. Mary McEachren Berlet 1909-1911.
3. Edward Lorne Berlet 1916-1918.
4. Harold Andrew Berlet 1919-1983.

Edward A. Berlet

Edward A. Berlet, formerly of Samuel Street, died Friday in the Avondale nursing home, Waterloo, following a lengthy illness. He was 87.

A native of Linwood, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine R. Berlet. His wife, the former Jennie Williamson, died in June, 1967.

Mr. Berlet lived in the Twin Cities for 40 years. He owned and operated a tailor shop in Tavistock until 1929 when he joined the Barrie Glove Co, here. He retired in 1957.

He was a member of Trinity United Church and the Tavistock Lodge AF and AM.

He is survived by one son, Harold A. of Etobicoke; six sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Frederick (May) Carthew; Mrs. J.J. (Irene) Weir, Mrs. Walter (Yetta) Schaefer and Mrs. Louis (Esther) Guenther, all of Kitchener, and Mrs. Charles (Frieda) Smith of New Hamburg; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Arthur in 1968, and Edward in infancy; one daughter, Mary, also in infancy, and one sister, Mrs. Adell MacDonald.
