Mr. Charles C. Hood of Flint. Michigan went home to be with his Heavenly Father on the morning of August 8th, 2017, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Camp Verde, Arizona.

Charles was the oldest of 5 children born to Benjamin C. Hood and Imarie Potts on July 17, 1935. He moved to Michigan in 1955 to work for General Motors, and there he met the love of his life, Elda Melinda Thornton in the summer of 1962. Charles retired from General Motors in 1993, after working 38 years for Chevrolet manufacturing in Flint, plant 2A.

Charles was a talented musician, and he loved to play the guitar and the harmonica, and sing bluegrass and country-western songs. He was an animal lover, and was especially fond of dogs: he always had at least one dog, but usually had 2. Charles was an avid reader, seeker of truth, and a freethinker. His favorite character from American history was Thomas Paine. Charles Hood had a heart of gold, and would help anyone, even strangers, if they needed help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Patricia Ann DeMoss of Georgia; little brother, Bennie Frank(Benjamin Franklin) Hood of Kentucky; younger sister, Shirley Ann Kellam of Georgia; half brother Garr Hayden Hood of Florida; half sister Roxie Juanita Martin of Mississippi; Uncle Horace Potts and Aunt Novalee Nation of Georgia, and several others dear to his heart.

To cherish his memory, Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Elda M. Hood; daughter Lois Gail and son-in-law, Brent Payne; 2 granddaughters: Sylvia Wightman and Stephanie McCormick; grandson: Matthew Miller; 6 precious great grandchildren; sister Molly Sue Hodgerson, sister Peggy Jo Overcash and husband Ed; nephew Tom Tom Dunahoo; nieces: Denise Dunahoo, Cheryl Kinder, Teresa Gray, Teresa (Hammonds) Gray, Charlotte Digby, Aunt "Ivie" Iva Potts, many cousins, great nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors who will all miss him dearly.
